The Fourth Bi-Annual 2009 All Dolled Up: Beaded Art Doll Competition is offering a first prize of a $1000.00 shopping spree on the Land of Odds web-site, and a Runner-Up prize of a $400.00 shopping spree on the web-site.

A Beaded Art Doll is a physical representation in three dimensions, using human figural and expressive characteristics, through the creative use and manipulation of beads. Beads are a unique art medium, allowing multidimensional surface treatment, and phenomenal opportunities for interplay among colors, light, shadow, texture and pattern. Beaded Art Dolls submitted as entries for this Competition should be immediately recognizable as a “Doll”.

Floating Bridge Press awards an annual Poetry Chapbook Award to the best chapbook submitted to an open competition for Washington State poets.

The winning poet currently receives a minimum of $500 plus 15 copies of a perfect-bound, archival-quality chapbook, and local promotion and distribution of the winning chapbook.  Winning poet also receives a featured reading in the Seattle area.

Three or four finalists receive $50 and are also featured at the winner’s reading.

All entrants are considered for inclusion in Pontoon, a Floating Bridge Press poetry anthology. In addition, Floating Bridge Press has occasionally produced broadsides of selected poems.

Farewell Shoes for Mr. Bush is a shoe art exhibition open to artists of all mediums and from around the globe. The exhibition is an an opportunity to express feelings on a shoe or pair of shoes. Participating artists are encouraged to explore innovative, evocative and genuine creations and to transcend the outside layers of the shoes.

Shoes of all sizes (size 10 not required) materials and provenance will be transformed into expressions of political, visual art, or simply a “farewell”.

AAEA is now accepting entries for its 2009 Fall Juried Show.

The American Academy of Equine Art was established in 1980 by a group of ten distinguished artists, individually famed for their work on equine subjects. Their aim was to maintain a degree of excellence within the genre, and to promote the academic representation of the equine form in drawing, painting and sculpture. AAEA serves to educate and encourage a broad awareness and appreciation of contemporary equine art as a specific and distinctively worthy segment of fine art in America.

The Grays Harbor Historical Seaport Authority announces a competition for the design of a logo for Seaport Landing, a new home for the ships on the Aberdeen waterfront. The logo will become a key component in public communications for the project, which is currently in the design and fundraising stages. Judging will include an opportunity for the public at large to vote for its favorite design via the Historical Seaport’s website.

The Seaport Landing Logo Design Contest is open to everyone. Prizes include two gift certificates: One for a Lady Washington / Hawaiian Chieftain sailing; the second for two youths aged 11 to 17 to sail for a week aboard Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain in the summer of 2009 to the San Juan Islands of Puget Sound.

This call for expressions of interest by the City of Vancouver’s Olympic and Paralympic Public Art Program seeks artists for a significant public art commission for the Northwest plaza of Vancouver’s Central Library in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Given the site and strength of the architecture, this commission should animate the plaza within the context of the scale of the buildings and the current use of the space by pedestrians and special events.

This commission is an opportunity to leave a legacy befitting the Library’s role as the city’s most popular public institution and a vibrant community resource. The City is seeking an artist or artist team to create artwork that draws on the Library’s mandate to reach and enrich all, while reinforcing the spirit and intent of the Olympic movement.

The budget for this commission is $700,000 inclusive of all costs including artist fees, design, supplies, insurance, engineering, fabrication, delivery, installation, travel & tax (if required).

The High Desert Rendezvous Art of the West show is scheduled for July 29- August 21, 2009. The Show, which will be held in the High Desert Museum’s Collins Gallery, provides the opportunity for the public to view and bid on items from an exclusive collection of fine art from pre-eminent artists of the West.

Commission: 50% of retail price (considered a donation to nonprofit High Desert Museum)

Enter original works with a Western theme for consideration in the Show. Work must be for sale. The 2009 Jury will determine which pieces will be included. Along with the visibility provided by the Show and its related promotion and marketing, participation enables artists to contribute to the community and assist the High Desert Museum in meeting its essential cultural role that it plays every day in Central Oregon.

Monarch Studio is a new fine art gallery promoting the exhibition and sale of works by emerging and mid-career West Coast artists, with a special emphasis on Latino art. Located in the heart of Seattle’s Pioneer Square art district, this exciting new venue is a welcome addition to Pacific Northwest art community.

Artists need not attend the Festival in order to participate.The Seattle Erotic Art Festival was founded in 2002 by the Foundation for Sex Positive Culture to promote freedom of sexuality, speech, and creativity through the erotic expression of fine art.
